Xiaomi: Date of new Redmi smartphone release revealed as Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset also mentioned
A few months have now passed since Qualcomm presented its latest Snapdragon 4 series chipset. As we discussed at the time, the chipset manufacturer complemented the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 with the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 this summer, despite the prior appearance of the more powerful Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 on benchmarking websites during the same period.
While Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 at the end of July, nothing has been seen of the chipset since. According to SmartPrix, that will change later this month though with the release of a new Xiaomi smartphone. Although the website has not provided any evidence to verify this claim, it has published an official-looking slide that shows when and where said smartphone will be revealed.
Specifically, the first Snapdragon 4s Gen 2-powered smartphone will appear during India Mobile Congress (IMC) on October 16. Thus, one can reasonably expect the device to be exclusive to India, at least initially. Based on current expectations, it seems that Xiaomi will use the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 to expand its Redmi 13 series. Unfortunately, device specifics remain unknown for now, other than the hardware that its chipset brings, which we have covered in our dedicated Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 launch article.
