Xiaomi Redmi K80 series tipped to feature flagship specs, but will see a price hike ^↺

MediaTek has already made the Dimensity 9400 official, and Qualcomm will formally introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 at the coming Snapdragon Summit event. Xiaomi 15 is expected to be among the first lineups to feature Qualcomm's next-gen SoC, but the Redmi K80 Pro could soon follow.

In a Weibo post, Wang Teng, the general manager of Redmi, hinted that the brand's upcoming flagship smartphones will be better positioned in the market than the competitors. Teng also shares that the Redmi K80 series will feature "greatly upgraded" specs, suggesting that they will deliver good overall performance.

Redmi's Wang Teng further mentions that there will be a massive improvement in another criterion, which he didn't explicitly reveal. The general manager then added that these improvements would make the Redmi K80 series stand out from the competitors (128 GB Pixel 9 curr. $749 on Amazon).

All this sounds great, but prominent leakster Digital Chat Station reports that the Redmi K80 series will see a price hike. The Pro model, in particular, is said to see the most significant price increase compared to its predecessor.

Looking back, Xiaomi packed the K70 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so the Redmi K80 Pro will likely come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Digital Chat Station previously reported that this next-gen Qualcomm flagship SoC costs more than the Dimensity 9400, which automatically means that the new Snapdragon-powered flagship phones will have higher price tags.

The Redmi K80 Pro is also expected to feature a 6,000 mAh battery and support 100W fast charging. These, combined with a good camera setup, could make the upcoming flagship phone worth the price hike.

As for the non-Pro Redmi K80, it could feature the current-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Ultra model could get the Dimensity 9400+. Regarding the launch of this new series, Wang Teng's post suggests that it will be announced within this year, and like the predecessors, they will likely get rebranded with Poco branding later for the global market.
