iQOO 13 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 surpasses Apple A18 Pro in Geekbench multi-core test
Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon Summit event is about a week away. In this event, Qualcomm will introduce its next-gen flagship SoC, which, according to recent reports, may not be named the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Instead, the company may announce it as the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition or Snapdragon 8 Elite.
With the launch of the flagship SoC approaching, phones that are expected to feature it are showing up on Geekbench. One of these devices is the iQOO 13, and its latest benchmark run reveals interesting results. The multi-core score of what's believed to be called the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition surpasses that of the Apple A18 Pro.
For reference, in our Geekbench benchmark runs, the Apple A18 Pro had a max score of 8,568 points in the multi-core test. As for the next-gen Snapdragon flagship SoC inside the iQOO 13, it scored 10,052 in the same test. This gives the Snapdragon chip around 17% lead in multi-core performance.
The single-core performance is commendable too. In that specific Geekbench run, the iQOO 13 got 3,142. To compare, in our benchmarks, the Apple A18 Pro got a max of 3,479. That means Qualcomm's upcoming 3 nm mobile chip is only around 10% behind in single-core performance.
Of course, this isn't the first time the iQOO 13 has appeared on Geekbench. It was spotted two days ago but with lower scores than this specific listing. The higher scores in the latest benchmark run may be the result of software optimizations.
Moreover, the OnePlus 13 with the same (or supposedly customized) next-gen Snapdragon 8 series chip was also spotted in the benchmarking platform. It got scores similar to those of the iQOO 13 in its latest benchmark run. All these suggest that Qualcomm may tighten the competition in performance with its upcoming mobile SoC. But it's yet to be seen how they compare when it comes to efficiency.
