Snapdragon 8 "Extreme Edition" smartphone frenzy forecast for end of October

Qualcomm's most cutting-edge chipset for mobile devices will be official as the new Snapdragon 8-series flagship (although its exact name remains to be confirmed outright) as soon as October 21, 2024. 

The announcement is now thought to act as a starter pistol for OEMs to start launching the smartphones to be based on the new, supposedly class-leading SoC without delay - from October 23 or 24, even, according to typically knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station.

Going by their maker's track record, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are likely to go first, followed closely by rivals such as the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, Realme GT7 Pro, iQOO 13, Honor Magic7 and OnePlus 13.

That exact order also remains to be determined, although these new flagships are now slated to debut once a day every day until the end of October. Not only that, but in an unusual twist, they are all also tipped for immediate availability on the Chinese market.

Accordingly, accelerated moves such as those could expedite their official international releases as well. 

However, these next-gen Snapdragon flagships might not have it all their own way in the dash to overtake the iPhone 16 series, as others based on MediaTek's new Dimensity 9400 silicon will also vie for eyeballs at around the same time.
