Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 specs revealed partially by new leak
Multiple Geekbench listings have revealed what the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has in store, at least on the CPU and GPU front. A new leak from Baidu now reveals everything there is to know about the upcoming flagship SoC, except for a few critical details. For starters, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 doubles down on on-device GenAI capabilities. Its CPU part is left empty, but we already know it comes with an 8-core Oryon design with 2 performance and 6 efficiency cores.
Additionally, it will ship with LPDDR5X memory and not LPDDR6, as speculated by a previous rumour. Weirdly, the document does not state its throughput but specifies it will operate in four-channel mode. Like its predecessors, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 supports UFS 4.0 (Gear 5) storage that can achieve read/write speeds of 4,500/4,000 MB/s.
Other notable specs include an 'Adreno 8-series' Display Processing Unit (DPU), which can power a 144 Hz 3,840 x 2,540 pixels display at 144 Hz. It can output video at up to 8K 60 FPS to an external display. The good bits about its Adreno 830 GPU are, unfortunately, not visible. But, a previous leak predicted it would offer a 40% performance uplift with a peak clock of 1.0 GHz and 12 CUs.
