Asus debuted the ProArt PX13 at Computex 2024 as a convertible laptop with a portable chassis, a 13.3-inch 3K OLED panel, the latest Ryzen AI 9 Strix Point APUs, and Nvidia RTX 40 series dGPUs. The laptop is aimed at creators who want a powerful machine in a compact chassis.

However, the notebook can be a bit pricey at full retail. For instance, the Asus ProArt PX13 with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU, an RTX 4050 GPU, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD normally retails for $1,699.99 at Best Buy. This is a rather steep price when we consider that the RTX 4050 isn’t a beast and the OLED display is only 60 Hz. Fortunately, Best Buy has now discounted this SKU by a respectable $300.

Asus ProArt PX13: A compelling package despite a few missteps

In our review of the Asus ProArt PX13, we detailed that the biggest weaknesses of the compact laptop are its 60 Hz display, loud fans, and soldered RAM. If a 60 Hz refresh rate is fine by you and 32 GB is enough memory for your intended use, the ProArt PX13 presents a solid value proposition.

For starters, the ProArt PX13 has a portable chassis that is both sturdy and quite thin without being too heavy at 1.4 kg (3.06 lbs). The chassis incorporates excellent inputs, a healthy port selection that includes two USB 4.0 ports, a fairly large 73 Wh battery, and a 13.3-inch OLED display.

The 3K OLED panel is one of the highlights of the ProArt PX13 despite only refreshing at 60 Hz. The panel comes pre-calibrated, has a high contrast, and boasts full sRGB and P3 coverage. Additionally, it also shoots more than 500 nits in HDR mode.
