Verdict - Compact and powerful convertible
The Asus ProArt PX13 with the Ryzen AI MAX+ 388 is a powerful and compact, but also versatile companion without breaking the bank. Yes, the CPU performance of the small Strix Halo chip is much lower compared to the high-end Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, but you still get the powerful Radeon 8060S iGPU, so you get a capable machine for editing as well as gaming on the go. The small 512 GB SSD is a bit of a bummer, but this is a result of the crazy storage and memory prices right now. The premium chassis is familiar and offers good connectivity as well as a speedy card reader, but the Wi-Fi 7 module is limited to 160 MHz. We once again have to praise the keyboard, because thanks to the generous travel of 1.7 mm and the precise feedback, this is one of the most comfortable keyboards you can get.
The 2.8K OLED touchscreen still offers good image quality with accurate color profiles for sRGB as well as P3, but the image is a bit grainy due to the touch layer and the brightness is not really up to date with less than 400 nits in SDR mode and "only" 640 nits in HDR mode. While the convertible can be a very quiet device for everyday workloads, it will get very audible when you utilize the full performance of the Strix Halo processor.
All in all, and despite the mentioned negative aspects, the ProArt PX13 is still one of the most powerful compact devices, which is also an interesting option when you do not necessarily need a convertible.

Specifications
Case, Connectivity and Input Devices
We already reviewed the GoPro special model of the 2026 ProArt PX13 powered by the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, the Radeon 8060S and 128 GB RAM. Asus also offers a more affordable version with the Ryzen AI MAX+ 388, the same Radeon 8060S, 32 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD for a much more affordable price of $1899. The chassis did not change from the previous version and the black convertible is very subtle. The same applies for the 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED, which offers accurate colors and the P3 gamut, but is still limited to 60 Hz. There are also no changes in terms of connectivity and input devices, so please see our review of the ProArt PX13 GoPro Edition for details.

Processor Performance
The AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 388 (Strix Halo) uses eight Zen 5 cores instead of 16 on the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, so the multi-core performance is much lower and also slightly lower compared to the latest Panther Lake convertibles from. The single-core performance of the Zen 5 cores is also not great and pretty much the lowest among current mobile CPUs, but still sufficient for most multimedia tasks. Apple's M5 SoC in the base model of the MacBook Pro 14 is noticeably faster.

System and Storage Devices
System performance is once again excellent and we did not experience any stability issues. Asus still uses compact M.2-2230 SSDs (PCIe 4.0) and the Kioxia drive with 512 GB (365 GB free) offers good and stable transfer rates.

GPU and Gaming Performance
The Ryzen AI MAX+ 388 is equipped with the fast Radeon 8060S we know from the high-end Strix Halo chip, but the GPU and gaming performance is a bit lower. You can once again assign a fixed amount of memory to the GPU, which can be an advantage for photo/video editing as well as demanding games that can have issues with comparable dedicated GPUs with just 8 GB VRAM. The performance is still very good overall and it is by far the most powerful iGPU with an advantage of more than 50 % compared to Intel's latest Arc B390 iGPU.

Emissions & Power Consumption
System Noise
The ProArt PX13 is a very quiet system with light workloads even in Performance mode, but it is once again very audible when you use the full potential of the Strix Halo SoC. Considering the small chassis, however, this is not surprising and simply a trade-off you have to accept. We did not hear any other electronic noises, which was an issue on the GoPro edition.

Temperature
The surface temperatures under load warm up to more than 40 °C and the hot spot is at the rear center on the bottom cover. You can still use the PX13 on your lap, though, and typing is not affected, either. During the stress test, the SoC consumption drops from 85 to 70 Watts and eventually levels off at 60 Watts (~64 °C).
(±) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 41.8 °C / 107 F, compared to the average of 35.4 °C / 96 F, ranging from 19.6 to 60 °C for the class Convertible.
(-) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 46.2 °C / 115 F, compared to the average of 36.9 °C / 98 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 26.8 °C / 80 F, compared to the device average of 30.3 °C / 87 F.
(±) 3: The average temperature for the upper side is 33.8 °C / 93 F, compared to the average of 30.3 °C / 87 F for the class Convertible.
(+) The palmrests and touchpad are cooler than skin temperature with a maximum of 31.7 °C / 89.1 F and are therefore cool to the touch.
(-) The average temperature of the palmrest area of similar devices was 28 °C / 82.4 F (-3.7 °C / -6.7 F).

Power Consumption and Battery Life
Our consumption measurements do not reveal any surprises and the 200W power adapter is more than sufficient for the maximum consumption. The battery runtime slightly improved in our Wi-Fi test at 150 nits and we recorded 10.5 hours, so one hour more than before. At maximum panel brightness, the runtime is almost 8 hours.

Every year, Notebookcheck independently reviews hundreds of laptops and smartphones using standardized procedures to ensure that all results are comparable. We have continuously developed our test methods for around 20 years and set industry standards in the process. In our test labs, high-quality measuring equipment is utilized by experienced technicians and editors. These tests involve a multi-stage validation process. Our complex rating system is based on hundreds of well-founded measurements and benchmarks, which maintains objectivity.
