Zotac Zbox Magnus EN374070 review – A mini gaming PC inside a 2.65-liter case with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070

During our test, the Zotac Zbox Magnus EN374070 proved to be a powerful and versatile mini PC, boasting a compact design and powerful hardware. Its combination of the Intel Core i7-13700HX and the GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop delivers solid performance for gaming, multimedia and demanding applications. Compared to the previous model, its design is the same, which is a little disappointing. A fresher, more modern look would have suited the mini PC well. The successor to the Magnus EN374070 has already been officially presented by Zotac—with the latest components and an RTX 5000 GPU. Nevertheless, Zotac is sticking to its guns when it comes to its case, with the successor model still featuring the same one. With a consumption of up to 115 watts, its GPU performs well, in part thanks to its effective cooling.

The PC is fitted with plenty of external ports, but only with the familiar standard, so they don't stand out from the crowd. The ability to open the mini PC to install or replace the RAM and SSD is a great solution. Our biggest point of criticism is the device's noise emissions, which, despite the CPU and GPU's somewhat limited power consumption, reach levels that we are otherwise only used to from gaming laptops. If you can live with these drawbacks, then the Zotac Zbox Magnus EN374070 is a powerful PC for on your desk or in your living room.

Zotac's Zbox Magnus EN374070 is a powerful mini PC which, despite its compact size, is equipped with powerful hardware in the shape of the Intel Core i7-13700HX and the GeForce RTX 4070. The manufacturer offers the compact, 2.65-liter PC as a preconfigured model and as a barebone model. Our test device additionally features 16 GB RAM and a 1-TB SSD and at the time of writing, retails for just under $2,000.

Aside from the mini PC itself, the Zotac Zbox Magnus EN374070 comes with two WLAN antennas. The box also contains a powerful power supply unit with a connection cable and a quick start guide.

The mini PC is also optionally available as a barebone version, in which the RAM and SSD have to be installed separately. The underside can be easily removed thanks to two knurled screws, making it particularly easy to access all important interfaces for installation and upgrading.

Zotac doesn't mention any specific eco-certificates or modular recycling concepts for its EN374070. The PC's optional warranty of up to 5 years is a positive highlight. You must register your device after purchasing in order to activate the extended warranty period.

All tests were carried out in the PC's delivered state. No changes were made to the fan options or the performance limit of the processor. In addition, the system was equipped and tested with the latest drivers at the time.

The Intel Core i7-13700HX is a powerful processor from the Raptor Lake series with 16 cores and 24 threads. It is ideal for demanding applications, gaming and multitasking, and it's often found inside gaming laptops. Unfortunately, however, due to the PC's compact cooling unit, Zotac has throttled its maximum power consumption to 69 watts. Under continuous load, the processor is granted 55 watts, which means that it can still deliver adequate performance. In comparison, however, we also noted that the Intel Core i7-13700HX performed below average in combination with the Zotac Zbox Magnus EN374070.
