Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT review: Compact gaming mini-PC with AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX and Radeon RX 7600M XT

The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT delivers impressive performance in a compact form with the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX зrocessor and the Radeon RX 7600M XT пraphics card. The new gaming PC not only has fresh hardware but also a completely redesigned chassis. Our test device is also equipped with 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD. It is not yet known whether alternative configurations will also be available in stores on the same basis. There are also no final price details on the manufacturer's official website. We have been informed that the pre-sale price is expected to be around US$1,000 as per our request.
Compact desktop PCs with a dedicated graphics card also serve as comparison devices in this review. We have compiled a list of the comparison devices in the following table.

Case
The case differs fundamentally from all other devices that Minisforum has brought onto the market as gaming PCs so far. Basically, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT must be used in a vertical orientation, which ensures excellent ventilation. There are two LED panels on the right-hand side, which are already available as a single module on the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX. The symbols created by content creator Mingkun Liu are visible through the backlighting. The backlight can also be deactivated in the system's UEFI. It should be mentioned that the colors change approximately every two seconds. It is currently not possible to adjust the timing. We cannot say for sure whether this will also be impossible to change in the final product. We have informed the manufacturer that it would be good to have more customization options here. However, this should be possible with the help of a BIOS update.
Minisforum relies predominantly on plastic for the choice of materials. This has also been the case with the manufacturer's other gaming PCs and is not a big deal. A metal casing would certainly be a haptic treat, but in practice, the device looks quite stylish in its current form. Overall, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT looks comparatively slim, partly due to its vertical alignment. The stand is slightly wider and gives the device excellent stability. The magnetic connection between the device and the stand is also well-designed and actually holds the device in position. On the left-hand side, Minisforum uses some metal for the grille structure. The ventilation openings are relatively large so that the two fans mounted behind them can draw in fresh air perfectly. The workmanship gives us no cause for criticism. Although this is a pre-series device, the build quality is already impeccable.
Size comparison
In terms of dimensions, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is relatively modest, even taking the stand into account. Without it, the device would be even more compact (width: 269 mm; height: 64 mm; depth: 155 mm). The weight is just under 2.8 kg, although the stand weighs just over 400 grams. At 874 grams, the 300-watt power supply unit is not negligible due to its performance. Compared to the equally powerful PSUs from Acemagic (1.1 kg) or Intel (1.3 kg), the power supply unit of the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is comparatively light.
Equipment
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT offers a solid selection of connections. Most of the connections are hidden on the back, which does not cause any problems in everyday use. On the front, there is one USB-A and one USB-C port for quick connection of external devices. Screens can only be connected at the rear. Here you have the choice between HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C. If you want to use several screens at the same time, you can also use all three options in parallel. We successfully tested the 4K resolution with 144Hz via HDMI and DisplayPort. DUHD @120Hz is also possible with the mini-PC. However, USB4, Thunderbolt, or OCuLink are not available.
Communication
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is equipped with a modern Wi-Fi module from Mediatek. Wi-Fi 7 is supported with the most common frequency bands. However, in our measurements, which we carried out with the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000, there are significant differences in performance. In principle, the performance is sufficient in any case. However, we would recommend using the 6 GHz frequency band as the primary wireless connection. A wired network connection is also possible with the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT - a 2.5G LAN port is available at the rear.
Accessories
The scope of delivery includes the device itself as well as the 300 watt power supply unit and the magnetic stand, which allows the device to be positioned vertically.
Maintenance
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT will most likely not be released as a barebone version. This means that RAM and SSD are always pre-installed and the system is ready to go after a short setup. Since two M.2 interfaces are available internally, the mass storage can still be expanded here. Accessing the slots for RAM and SSD is quite difficult at first glance. In practice, however, only two screws need to be removed, which are installed on the side with the two LED modules. The two screws are located under the magnetically fixed side cover, which contains the symbols, at the bottom edge. Once loosened, the entire unit, including the LED elements, can be removed with a little care. But be careful: there are cables on the back that must be carefully removed. Underneath are the mass storage and RAM, as well as the WLAN module, which can also be removed. To access the mass storage, the massive cooling unit must be removed. This is also quite simple. To access the other fans, you have to remove the other side. However, this is somewhat more difficult and requires a little patience and delicate tools to avoid damaging the housing. The fans themselves are not necessarily easier to access, which makes disassembly less worthwhile. We were also able to catch a glimpse under the heat sink at this point and saw that the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT is not an MXM module.
Sustainability
The packaging of the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT looks inconspicuous and is very compact in relation to the device itself. However, a lot of plastic is used inside. Individually packaged cables are superfluous and have a negative impact on the environment, which could certainly be improved. The device is mainly made of plastic. It is not known whether special recycled materials have been used in its manufacture.
Performance - AMD Ryzen 9 with 16 cores and 32 threads
Based on the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is equipped with one of the fastest processors currently available from AMD. As a result, the SoC offers almost perfect performance for all conceivable tasks. The gaming capability is also enhanced with the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT is guaranteed. With 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD, you are well equipped for the time being.
Test conditions
We carried all performance tests with the Windows energy profile at the maximum performance
. We did not change the performance of the CPU and left it in auto mode (factory settings) according to the BIOS settings. Minisforum equips the AtomMan G7 PT with two different performance modes, which can be switched by pressing a button on the front of the case without rebooting. In performance mode, the processor has a constant 85 watts at its disposal, although in balanced mode it can run at a constant 65 watts. The performance of the dedicated graphics card itself is not changed. This can operate at 120 watts in both modes. All performance tests were carried out in Performance mode.
Processor
The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX offers impressive performance with 16 cores and 32 threads in the AtomMan G7 PT mini-PC. This makes the mobile processor one of the fastest models that AMD currently has in its portfolio. The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D would have been the icing on the cake, with its 3D V-Cache for pure gaming. However, this is only criticism at a very high level, as both 16-cores are almost on par in terms of pure CPU power. The performance is surprisingly good compared to conventional desktop processors. An AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is only eight percentage points ahead in the average performance rating, although the Intel Core i9-14900K only achieves an increase of a meager ten percent. Concerning power consumption, this clearly shows how efficient mobile processors can be.
In terms of power consumption, Minisforum allows the 16-core to use up to 85 watts permanently when the device is set to performance mode. In the short term, the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX allows itself much more with up to 154 watts. In the somewhat less powerful Balanced mode, the SoC then works permanently with up to 65 watts, which means a performance loss of around ten percent in comparison. Even with the lower power limit, our test sample would still be clearly ahead of all competitors. The device can be operated more or less perfectly in balanced mode without any noticeable loss of performance. The biggest advantage here is the noticeably lower background noise, which we will discuss in more detail later.

Cinebench R15 Multi loop
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT masters the Cinebench R15 continuous loop surprisingly well. This indicates a very effective cooling unit that manages to keep the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX reliably cooled. The result is only slightly higher on the first run, which then settles at an excellent 4,863 points on average. The recorded data shows that the CPU temperature of the processor only climbs to 83.4 °C, which is an excellent result in terms of performance.
System performance
The entire system benefits enormously from the performance of the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX. Together with the fast RAM and the NVMe SSD, you never have the feeling of operating a slow system. Even when the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is already busy with tasks, the system still has enough reserves. In comparison, our test sample performs well, although the RAM performance of the two Acemagic PCs (M2A, Tank03) is a little better.

DPC latencies
When opening multiple browser tabs in Edge, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT has no problems with increased latency. These only increase significantly when playing our 4K test video. It can also be seen that the dedicated graphics card is well utilized and some dropped frames are also documented. A short stress test with Prime95 cannot increase the latencies any further. In comparison with the competitors, our test device is not completely out of line, although only the Minisforum Neptune Series HN2673 stands out with low latencies.

Mass storage
The factory-installed SSD is a model from Kingston. We have come across identical models many times before. Basically, there is not much to criticize about the performance, as it is suitable for both short loads and stress tests. The large cooling plate with a small fan ensures stable data rates without the risk of performance losses due to high temperatures. The M.2 interface is used, which in our case operates at PCIe 4.0 x4 speed. Minisforum advertises the Mini-PC specifically with PCIe 5.0 support with regard to mass storage. It is a pity that the manufacturer does without this and does not offer optimum performance. After all, you can get even more performance with a corresponding model. A total of two M.2 2280 SSDs can be installed in the device. This is good, because our test sample was only equipped with a 1 TB SSD in the delivery state, which quickly reaches its limits in terms of its intended use as a gaming PC. In our opinion, a 2 TB SSD would be a much better alternative.

Graphics card
The built-in 3D accelerator is called AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT. Based on the RDNA3 architecture, the graphics chip Navi33 is used here. This means that the built-in mobile graphics accelerator is almost completely similar to the desktop version aka AMD Radeon RX 7600. In terms of power consumption, however, the limit has been set at 120 watts, which means lower clock rates compared to the desktop model. However, with 2,048 streaming processors, there are the same number of computing units and the VRAM is also identical at 8 GB. As can be seen from the comparison charts, the performance of our test sample is certainly capable of keeping up with the desktop version. The gap is only a few percentage points, which is not noticeable in everyday use. The comparison with other mini-PCs, which at first glance are equipped with more powerful graphics cards, is very positive in favor of our test sample. Occasionally there are benchmarks, but also games that simply get along better with Nvidia hardware. In the render tests, however, the tide turns completely and AMD can clearly outperform its competitors with Nvidia GPUs.
Unfortunately, the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT only offers 8 GB of VRAM, which can cost performance under certain circumstances. Looking at the results of the Unigine Superposition benchmark, it quickly becomes clear what is meant by this. While our test device still leads the list at a low resolution, the ranking deteriorates significantly with increasing resolution and detail level.
You can find more benchmarks for the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT hereMobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List.

Gaming performance
The good 3D performance of the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT is also evident in the games tested. The high-end SoC and the mid-range GPU together ensure consistently good gaming performance. Most of the time, however, you have to be satisfied with FullHD resolution. The limited VRAM causes a noticeable drop in performance if there is a bottleneck here. Our test device can hold its own against the competition almost across the board. In low resolutions, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT benefits enormously from the very fast AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX. Even in higher resolutions, our test sample can keep up with its rivals and in some cases deliver better performance. The reason for this is the limited power consumption (115 watts) of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU that is used in the two Acemagic systems.
We could already see that Minisforum installed a powerful cooling unit in the Cinebench R15 continuous loop. The same applies to the cooling of the graphics card. Using Cyberpunk, we documented the frame progression for over 30 minutes. The performance remains stable throughout and frame drops are not to be expected.

Noise emissions
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is relatively quiet in relation to its performance and size. A total of four fans are installed in the system, which are audible under load, but not disturbing. The mini-PC is very quiet when idling, and only a restrained noise can be heard on closer inspection. In the stress test, we measured a sound pressure level of 45 dB(A), which corresponds roughly to what Minisforum itself mentions on the product page. During gaming, the device was only slightly louder than in the stress test at 45.5 dB(A). The measurement results in the comparison table represent the performance mode. For a direct comparison, we also measured the device in balanced mode. Here, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT works significantly quieter. Temperature
A very powerful cooling unit is installed in the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT. We have already seen this in the load tests. A total of four fans ensure good ventilation. At the same time, a massive cooling unit with eight heat pipes ensures good heat distribution for the CPU and GPU. As is often the case, Minisforum also relies on liquid metal for heat transfer in this device. We do not see critical temperatures at any time during the stress test. The casing itself does not heat up significantly. Temperatures only rise noticeably at the top and rear in the area of the ventilation slots.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 31.9 °C / 89 F, compared to the average of 35.8 °C / 96 F, ranging from 21.6 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(+) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 36.9 °C / 98 F, compared to the average of 36.1 °C / 97 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 28.6 °C / 83 F, compared to the device average of 32.3 °C / 90 F.
(+) 3: The average temperature for the upper side is 30.7 °C / 87 F, compared to the average of 32.3 °C / 90 F for the class Mini PC.
Energy management
Compared to a conventional desktop PC, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is significantly more economical, which is also a point in favor of its competitors. When idle, our test device is content with 23 to 40 watts. Nevertheless, it only consumes 131 watts under average load. Peaks of up to 296 watts are also reached for short periods, which does not overload the supplied power supply unit. This is designed for exactly 300 watts and we never had any problems with it during the test.

Verdict - Powerful mini-PC with Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is a really good mini-PC in many respects. Thanks to the enormously high performance of the processor, the compact PC is not only suitable for gaming, but also masters a wide range of other tasks. Whether content creation or professional workloads - the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT provides an excellent basis with the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX. The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT almost always has its opponents under control and often offers noticeably more performance. With the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT, the gaming performance is also impressive. As this is only a mid-range GPU, you should primarily be satisfied with FullHD resolution when gaming. The performance of the two main components is significantly influenced by the cooling unit. Minisforum has done an excellent job here, as there are no drops in performance for either the processor or the graphics card. The ability to use the performance mode is good and does not strain the ears as much as other devices we have already tested. If you can do without some CPU power, you should use the balanced mode. This not only saves energy but also makes the device noticeably quieter even under load.
The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is a great gaming PC with an exceptional design. With outstanding CPU performance, the mini-PC is also suitable for content creators for video or photo editing.
All in all, a super device without any weaknesses, you might think so far. However, one thing is not really well thought out and not at all user-friendly: the RGB lighting on the side, which is virtually impossible to customize. If the manufacturer doesn't make improvements here, most users will probably switch off the lighting completely, which is not what the inventor intended. The issue of storage space is also a sticking point, as 1 TB is far too little when you know that this is a gaming PC. The manufacturer also misses the opportunity to make the most of the interface's performance, as PCIe 5.0 SSDs are supported. With the slogan that the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT is the first mini-PC to offer this connection, you would expect it to be used. The SSD in our test sample is not a total failure. The transfer rates are good, and Minisforum has also chosen the cooling perfectly here.
The connectivity is again good, even if a USB4 connection would provide even more scope for peripherals. Nevertheless, the connections offered here are excellent. The Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT has an easy time asserting itself against its competitors. Ultimately, the device must also convince with an attractive price. The current price for pre-orders is around 1,000 US dollars. Some of Acemagic's competitors are significantly more expensive and do not necessarily offer more 3D performance.
Note: We have recently updated our rating system and the results of version 8 are not comparable with the results of version 7. Further information can be found here available here.
