Touchscreens can have a negative impact on the image quality, which is also the case for some OLED models from Asus' ProArt series. The creator tablet ProArt PZ14, however, features a gorgeous 144 Hz OLED touchscreen without any issues.

OLED screens are standard for many devices by now and they offer excellent image quality as well as great HDR brightness values. The advantages are easily visible thanks to rich colors, deep blacks, high contrast ratios and very fast response times, so the contents look great. However, when you start adding a touchscreen, there can be issues with a grainy picture impression on brighter contents, which is a bit like a matte IPS screen. Depending on the device, the effect varies, but it can be distracting.

One big aspect is the supplier of the OLED panel, and older Samsung OLED panels in particular suffered from this problem. Samsung fixed this issue for its own Galaxy Book models by now, but Asus devices sometimes still suffer from this issue, just like we saw on the recently reviewed ProArt PX13 convertible, which is still equipped with an older Samsung OLED panel.

We just reviewed the ProArt PZ14 tablet/convertible from Asus, which is equipped with a 14-inch OLED touchscreen. It features a frequency of 144 Hz and offers an incredible image quality. In addition to the familiar advantages, there are no issues with a grainy image impression, despite the touch layer. Asus does not use a Samsung panel, but the supplier is BOE. You still get excellent color profiles for sRGB as well as P3 color gamut. Only the PWM behavior is not ideal; even though the frequency is pretty high at 720 Hz, the amplitude is also very high at 75 %. If you are sensitive to PWM flickering, this might be an issue. Please see our comprehensive review for more information and the full analysis of the OLED panel.
