Vaio has introduced its new T series of 13.3-inch laptops in Japan, with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. The laptops feature a 2560 x 1600 touchscreen and a multi-flip design for different usage positions.

Vaio has introduced a new laptop series with a multi-flip mechanism that allows the device to be used in three different modes. We previously covered the updated Vaio SX14-R laptops, and the company has now added the T series to its laptop lineup.

The Vaio T (VCTNN1) and Vaio T Work (VBTNN1) feature a 13.3-inch touchscreen and can be used as a regular notebook, tablet or in view mode. The latter is intended for watching content or sharing the display with others.

Both models have a 16:10 display with a 2560 x 1600 pixel WQXGA resolution, along with a glossy finish and Vaio's Flash Surface Touch Display technology.

The Vaio T weighs approximately 1.253 kg (2.76 lb) and measures 312 x 224.6 x 14.6–19.6 mm (12.3 x 8.8 x 0.6–0.8 inches). The Vaio T Work has almost the same dimensions but weighs around 1.299 kg (2.86 lb). The standard T is available in Fine Red and Fine Black, while a Kachiro Special Edition is also available.

The laptops are equipped with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, including the Core Ultra 7 356H and Core Ultra 5 325, while the Kachiro Special Edition comes with the Core Ultra X7 358H and Intel Arc graphics. The Vaio T can be configured with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory.

For storage, Vaio offers an SSD option with PCIe 5.0 support. The company also includes its Vaio TruePerformance technology, which is designed to improve processor performance during demanding workloads.

Battery life varies depending on the configuration. According to Vaio, models with the high-capacity battery are rated for approximately 16.5 to 18 hours of video playback and 28 to 29 hours of idle time. Versions with the standard battery are rated for around 11.5 to 12.5 hours of video playback and 19.5 to 21 hours of idle time.

Vaio has also added several features for video calls and AI-related use. These include AI noise cancellation, Vaio Online Conversation Settings and Vaio User Sensing. Vaio  WellnessCare, which uses the camera to provide information related to vascular and heart rate measurements, is scheduled to become available from September 30.

The Vaio T Work is aimed at business users and comes with additional security features. These include Secure-core PC support, Vaio User Sensing, Trust Delete and Wakuwaku VPN. It shares the same multi-flip design and 13.3-inch WQXGA touchscreen as the consumer-focused T.

Unlike conventional 360-degree 2-in-1 laptops such as Lenovo's Yoga 9i 2-in-1 (currently $2188 on Amazon), the Vaio T uses a different hinge design instead of simply rotating the display through 360 degrees. Vaio has also tested the mechanism for durability and says the laptops have passed MIL-STD-810H testing. The company says the devices are manufactured in Japan.

Availability

Vaio will begin accepting orders for the T and T Work on September 18, 2026, with both models scheduled to be released on September 22. The announcement currently covers the Japanese market, and the company has not yet announced plans to bring the T series to international markets.
