Updated Vaio SX14-R laptops arrive with Intel Ultra Series 3 CPUs

Vaio has unveiled the updated 14-inch SX14-R (VJS4R2) ultralight laptop in Japan in five colors. The sub-1 kg (sub-2.2 lbs.) model has a carbon fiber body for a durable design and utilizes the latest Intel Ultra Series 3 CPUs for improved AI performance. The SX14-R (VJS4R2) is available for order on the Vaio website for delivery scheduled to begin May 22, 2026. The latest SX14-R laptops have an MSRP starting at 327,800 yen (~$2,050).

The 2nd-generation SX14-R uses Intel Core Ultra 7 356H and Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processors, with improved AI performance thanks to NPUs that can perform 47 to 50 TOPS and improved CPU performance that is 123% better than the 1st-generation SX14-R (VJS4R1) according to Vaio. This allows the Vaio to be certified as a CoPilot+ PC, with enhanced AI features in Windows 11. They also ship with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage.

The SX14-R notebooks come with a 16:10 1,920×1,200-pixel anti-glare panel or a 2,560×1,600 pixel glossy panel with optional pen support. The keyboard and touchpad have been revised for quieter operation. They come with one HDMI, two USB 3.0, and two USB 3.2 (supporting Thunderbolt 4, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort 2.1) ports. The laptops support wired Ethernet and wireless Wi-Fi 7 & Bluetooth 5.4 connections, with optional 5G nanoSIM/eSIM support.

Secure log-ins are provided by the 9.2 MP webcam with Windows Hello facial recognition or the power button with integrated Windows Hello fingerprint recognition. Users can join online meetings with clearer sound thanks to the Dolby Atmos stereo speakers and triple microphones with AI noise cancellation.

Depending on whether the standard battery or high-capacity battery is included, rated JEITA 3.0 battery runtimes range from 11.0 to 20.5 hours when playing videos. Depending on configuration, weight ranges from 985 g to 1.257 kg (2.17 to 2.77 lbs.).
