New Vaio Vision Plus 14 portable monitor weighs just 0.72 pounds
Sony Corporation sold Vaio back in 2014, and ever since then, the computer brand hasn't made much noise in the market. But that changed with the announcement of Vaio Vision Plus 14. At the core, it's a portable monitor that weighs only 0.72 pounds (around 326 grams).
However, the lightweight nature isn't the only highlight of this portable monitor. The Vision Plus 14 is also reasonably thin, measuring only 12.4 mm at its thickest and 3.9 mm at its thinnest. These make it a more travel-friendly option than the Asus ZenScreen OLED MQ13AH (available on Amazon).
As for the display, it sports a 14-inch LCD panel that features a 1920x1200 pixels resolution. It's rated for up to 400 nits of brightness, and the viewing angle is at 178 degrees. There's a fold-out kickstand, and the Vaio Vision Plus 14 features two USB Type-C ports. These have USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt mode support.
Thanks to the USB passthrough support, you can connect a power supply to one of the ports while the other can deliver power and receive display input at the same time. Note that you need a 65W or higher adapter to take advantage of the Power Delivery feature.
There are no HDMI or DisplayPort inputs, but given the thin and light nature of the portable monitor, you can't really hold Vaio against it. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Vision Plus 14 is only a display, and it doesn't have touch support or built-in speakers.
When it comes to the price, the Vaio Vision Plus 14 will be available in Japan at 54,800 Japanese Yen (about $339) this week. There's no word on global pricing and availability yet.
