HP releases new budget 14-inch laptop with 32 GB RAM and Intel Panther Lake
HP has released another 14-inch laptop built around Intel's Panther Lake platform. For context, the company has released multiple 14-inch laptops this year, including the EliteBook 8 G2a 14, ZBook 8 G2a, ZBook Ultra G1a 14 and the EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 that we have already reviewed in 2026 (curr. $2,599 on Amazon).
In short, those four laptops sit at the top end of HP's product lines. By contrast, the company is also offering Panther Lake processors inside the cheaper OmniBook 3 14. For reference, HP recently released a comparable laptop powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X platform, too. While that laptop comes exclusively with the Snapdragon X X1P-26-100, HP offers its Panther Lake-based alternative with the Core Ultra 5 322, Core Ultra 5 325 or the Core Ultra 7 355.
According to our benchmarks, these processors enjoy a substantial performance advantage over the Snapdragon X X1P-26-100. Nonetheless, the former currently starts at $599, discounted from an alleged $1,129 MSRP. At the time of writing, HP's starting configuration includes a Glacier Silver finish, Windows 11 Home, a Core Ultra 5 322 processor, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM running in single-channel mode and a 256 GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
On top of that, HP's starting configuration features a 1200p IPS display combining 300 nits peak brightness with 62.5% sRGB colour space coverage. Moreover, HP opts for a 60 Wh battery and Bluetooth 5.4/Wi-Fi 6 connectivity but a non-backlit keyboard. Alternatively, one can configure Bluetooth 6/Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and a backlit keyboard for $20 and $10 extra, respectively. Meanwhile, HP charges $70 or $240 more for 512 GB and 1 TB SSDs.
Also, the OmniBook 3 14 can be configured with 24 GB or 32 GB of RAM. However, the latter only comes in single-channel mode, unlike its 16 GB and 24 GB counterparts. Furthermore, one can configure a touchscreen display for a $70 surcharge or a 400-nit and 100% sRGB alternative for just $30 more than its default 300-nit and 62.5% sRGB counterpart.
Finally, the Core Ultra 5 325 and Core Ultra 7 355 cost $40 and $220 more than the Core Ultra 5 322, with Warm Gold and Mica Silver finishes running to $20 extra, as well. Consequently, the OmniBook 3 can reach $1,469, discounted from $1,999, with a Core Ultra 7 355, 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, a backlit keyboard, Bluetooth 6/Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and a 400-nit display with Windows 11 Home pre-installed.
