Deal | Lenovo Yoga Slim laptop with 32 GB RAM scores massive $950 discount

Of course, there is no doubt that the ARM-powered Snapdragon X2 Elite SoC will encounter plenty of compatibility issues. While it's true that many popular applications have already received ARM-native variants, many haven't, and folks with such non-native software will have to endure the performance hit caused by emulation layers.

That said, customers who do have workflows with compatible software, or have mostly browser-based workflows will find the Snapdragon X2 Elite 80-100 SoC to be an extremely powerful chip. The 12-core CPU consists of six Oryon V3 cores clocked at 4.7 GHz and six more clocked at 3.4 GHz. 

This allows the SoC to keep up with a modern Intel Core Ultra 9 386H or AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 chip in multi-threaded synthetic benchmarks. In fact, the powerful Apple M4 Pro is only around 12% faster in Cinebench 2026.

Our detailed review of a slightly more powerful variant of the Lenovo Slim 7x laptop revealed that its performance did drop by around 20% or so during our Cinebench R15 loop test. The same happened during our Cyberpunk 2077 test, where FPS dropped noticeably after a while. That said, the fans stayed mostly inaudible during lightweight workloads, and ramped up during heavier ones.

We were also quite pleased with the laptop's 14-inch OLED display. The 60 Hz panel boasts a peak brightness of around 367 nits and covers the entire sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts. Being an OLED, contrast ratios are nearly infinite, and response times are almost instant. 

We did find the Slim 7x's glossy display to be somewhat difficult to use outdoors, and its color accuracy out of the box was not particularly anything worth writing home about.

The laptop is obviously not designed for gaming, although its Adreno X2-85 iGPU is quite a powerful unit and can easily keep up with Apple's M4 GPU in most synthetic benchmarks. Actual real-life performance will depend greatly on whether or not a customer's software of choice features an ARM-native version.

The Lenovo Slim 7x laptop comes equipped with 32 GB of LPDDR5X-9523 RAM, which is a very healthy amount for most memory-intensive workloads. However, the RAM is non-upgradeable, although the laptop's 1 TB SSD, thankfully, can be swapped courtesy of its M.2 2242 slot.

At its current price on Lenovo's online store, the Yoga Slim 7x laptop packs a lot of value for folks who can take advantage of its powerful ARM-based CPU and 32 GB of RAM. Interested customers are definitely advised to check out our in-depth review of the laptop (with a slightly more powerful SoC) before pulling the trigger.
