HP releases new budget 14-inch laptop with OLED display and Intel Wildcat Lake
HP continues to quietly expand its OmniBook range with new models. Recently, we reported that the OmniBook 3 was available in the US with Intel Panther Lake processors, up to 32 GB of RAM and a choice of 14-inch displays. Now, the higher-tier OmniBook 5 has arrived with lower-tier Wildcat Lake processors.
For context, HP updated the OmniBook 5 14 earlier this year with AMD Ryzen AI 400 and Intel Panther Lake processors. On top of that, the company continues to sell a Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 version that we reviewed in late 2025 (curr. $929 on Amazon). By contrast, the new OmniBook 5 14 starts at $699 with the Core 5 320, 8 GB of LPDDR5-6400 MT/s RAM, a 256 GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and Bluetooth 5.3/Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
Alternatively, HP has created a $749 SKU that swaps in a 512 GB SSD while making no other changes and retaining a 60 Wh battery. For now, both of these SKUs are listed as being out of stock, though. For the time being, HP is only selling a $1,299 SKU with the Core 7 350, 16 GB of RAM and Bluetooth 6.0/Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, but only a 256 GB SSD. Curiously, this version is said to drop to a 59 Wh battery.
According to our benchmarks, the Core 7 350 offers around 9% higher performance than the Core 5 320. The pair contain almost identical iGPUs with 2 Xe3 cores though, albeit with a 4% higher clock speed in the former's favour to 2,600 MHz. All configurations currently include identical OLED displays that output 1,920 x 1,200 pixels with 300 nits peak brightness, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage.
