HP releases new 14-inch laptop with 1,100-nit OLED display and Intel Panther Lake processors
HP is now selling the OmniBook 5 14 with Intel Panther Lake processors. Despite unveiling the laptop in January, we can currently only find the laptop listed in the US. For context, the OmniBook 5 14 was previously available with processors like the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 (curr. $899 on Amazon).
However, these have now been swapped for the Core Ultra 5 322, Core Ultra 7 355 or Core Ultra 9 386H. While all part of the same Intel Panther Lake family, performance differs wildly in the Core Ultra 9 386H's favour according to our benchmarks. All configurations feature a 59 Wh (3-cell) battery though, as well as a 1080p IR webcam with Windows Hello support. On top of that, HP offers the following display options:
- 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, OLED, 60 Hz refresh rate, 0.2 ms response times, 300 nits, 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage
- 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, OLED, 60 Hz refresh rate, 0.2 ms response times, 300 nits, 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage, Corning Gorilla Glass 3
- 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, OLED, 120 Hz refresh rate, 0.2 ms response times, 500 nits SDR, 1,100 nits HDR, 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage
Moreover, one can configure Bluetooth 5.4/Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth 6/Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Also, HP sells 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage and 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM. HP sells the OmniBook 5 14 in a choice of Glacier Silver, Meteor Silver, Sahara Silver and Starlit Blue finishes. Pictured above, all four colours are available with the same hardware.
It is worth noting that HP charges $10, $30 and $50 more for Glacier Silver, Starlit Blue and Sahara Silver finishes than its Meteor Silver option. At the time of writing, pricing starts at $1,299 but rises to over $2,000 when configuring the Core Ultra 9 386H, 32 GB of RAM and a 2.8K OLED display. Please see HP's website for more information.
