New 16-inch ThinkPad receives wider international release with 64 GB LPCAMM2 RAM and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 12GB
Almost five months have passed since Lenovo launched the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9. To recap, the company listed the 16-inch laptop on its PSREF website rather than making an official announcement. Nonetheless, its PSREF listing revealed that a global release would be occurring, presumably before the start of next year.
Then in late June, the new ThinkPad T1g landed in Australia, East Asia and Southeast Asia to replace the ThinkPad T1g Gen 8 we reviewed earlier this year (curr. $2,349 on Amazon). Now, Lenovo has expanded availability to include Europe. Specifically, the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 is now available to purchase across the Eurozone and in the UK. At the time of publication, prices start at £3,585 in the UK and between €3,794-€4,235 (~$4,885), including taxes.
Generally speaking, the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 starts in Europe with the Core Ultra 7 356H, a GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU, a 512 GB M.2 2280 SSD and 16 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM running at 8,533 MT/s. Additionally, this base configuration includes a 90 Wh battery with support for 140 W USB Type-C charging, Bluetooth 5.4/Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and a haptic touchpad. By default, Lenovo equips the laptop with a 1200p IPS display too, with 500 nits peak brightness and 100% sRGB colour space coverage, but only a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Alternatively, the ThinkPad T1g Gen 9 can be configured with 800-nit IPS or 1,500-nit Tandem OLED displays. For reference, the latter should reach 600 nits in SDR mode and has a 48-120 Hz variable refresh rate. Moreover, 32 GB or 64 GB of LPCAMM2 can be swapped in, as can up to a 4 TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD.
On top of that, Lenovo sells Intel's more powerful Core Ultra 7 366H vPro or Core Ultra 9 386H vPro processors, too. Incidentally, configuring either of these processors opens the option of swapping the GeForce RTX 5060 with 8 GB of VRAM for the 12 GB version of the GeForce RTX 5070.
