Lenovo releases new 17-inch laptop with over 14 hours battery life and Intel Wildcat Lake processors
Lenovo has expanded its V laptop series with a new model. To recap, the company launched the V15 Gen 7 at the end of July. Currently sold in a few countries, the V15 Gen 7 combines Intel's Wildcat Lake platform with up to 32 GB of RAM and over 17 hours of battery life in official tests.
Now, the larger V17 Gen 7 has joined the party in Austria and Germany as a cheaper alternative to other 17-inch laptops like the new LG Gram Max 17 or HP's OmniBook 7 17 and OmniBook 3 17 (curr. $1,399 on Amazon).
Although the 17-inch laptop is exclusive to these countries, Lenovo has already listed it in the rest of the Eurozone, the UK and in parts of Southeast Asia. Moreover, PSREF clarifies that the V17 Gen 7 will eventually receive a global release, with regional models listed for Africa, the Americas, the Middle East and South Asia, among others.
At the time of writing, Lenovo is selling two SKUs in Austria and Germany. Both SKUs feature 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and a 512 GB M.2 2242 SSD. Also, Lenovo includes a 17.3-inch IPS display with a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate complemented by 300 nits peak brightness and 72% NTSC colour space coverage.
However, Lenovo's base model contains the Core 5 320 for €1,069 (~$1230). Meanwhile, the company's more expensive SKU switches to the Core 7 350 for a €130 (~$150) and 12% uplift. Little should separate the two processors though, with the Core 7 350 only offering a 200 MHz overclock on its 6 CPU cores and a 100 MHz overclock on its dual-core Xe3-based iGPU. Both SKUs contain an identical 47 Wh battery too, which Lenovo claims lasts up to 14.36 hours in the JEITA-BAT 3.0 test at 200 nits. Pricing and availability for other markets remain unknown at this stage.
