Lenovo releases new budget 15-inch laptop with 32 GB RAM, over 17 hours battery life and Intel Wildcat Lake
In recent weeks, Lenovo has expanded its extensive laptop portfolio with options powered by Intel's budget Wildcat Lake platform. For instance, the IdeaPad Slim 5 13IWC11 and IdeaPad Slim 5 15IWC11 have just gone on sale internationally. Also, we have just finished reviewing the IdeaPad Slim 3 15IWC11.
Now, a new Lenovo V15 has joined the party to replace older Intel Twin Lake-based models (curr. $459 on Amazon). By contrast, the V15 Gen 7 IWC adopts the Core 5 320 or Core 7 350. A pair of 6-core processors, the Core 5 320 and Core 7 350 outperform the Processor N150 by a wide margin in our benchmarks. According to Lenovo's PSREF website, cheaper and less performant Core 3 304 and Core 5 315 processors will eventually be available, too.
The same website reveals that the V15 Gen 7 should be configurable with up to 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Moreover, Lenovo lists TN and IPS display options with 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolutions, 500:1 contrast ratios, 60 Hz refresh rates, 300 nits peak brightness and 45% coverage of the NTSC colour space. A 47 Wh battery rated for over 17 hours in the PCMark 10 test at 120 nits.
Currently, the Lenovo V15 Gen 7 has only reached Germany. Starting at €919 (~$1,045) including taxes, the 15-inch laptop ships with a Core 5 320, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, 512 GB of M.2 2242 storage and an IPS display.
