Huawei's next MateBook Pro S leaks with lightweight body and an unconfirmed "Kirin XE90" chip

Weibo user 看山叔 posts a photo of a MateBook-shaped lid, identifiable by its flat HUAWEI wordmark, sitting on a kitchen scale that reads 798.0 g. The current MateBook X Pro shell weighs close to 980 g, so a sub-800 g figure would mark a meaningful weight cut if it holds up. The same post lists Standard, Collector's, Anti-Peep, and Soft-Light editions; memory options of 16 GB, 24 GB, and 32 GB; storage options of 512 GB and 1 TB; and five color options: yellow, white, gray, purple, and black.

A Bilibili account, AAA魅魔荧師傅, posted details about this new Kirin XE90 chip, describing the part as an overclocked, relabeled version of the existing Kirin X90 rather than a new microarchitecture. The poster lists a core cluster of four cores at 2.45 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache, four cores at 2.1 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache, and two cores at 2.15 GHz with 512 KB of L2 cache.

The current Kirin X90 debuted in the first HarmonyOS PC, which has since been rebranded as the MateBook Pro, and reuses much of the Kirin 9010's architecture, including an 8 MB SLC and a 128-bit memory bus paired with dual-channel LPDDR5-6400. A refreshed, higher-clocked version would fit Huawei's pattern of iterating on its in-house Arm PC silicon rather than introducing a new design each cycle. The Huawei MateBook Pro S is expected to launch at Huawei's next event.
