Huawei nova 16 SE leaks in images, and it's basically wearing the Honor Power 2's clothes
Fresh images circulating on Weibo offer the first hands-on look at the Huawei nova 16 SE, corroborating a spec sheet that's been floating around China's tipster circuit for the past week.
The rear camera housing—a large circular island with two smaller sensors flanking it—is a near-copy of the Honor Power 2's layout, right down to the brushed-metal ring finish. The unit shown has a pearlescent white gradient back panel.

The SE slots into the nova 16 lineup above the online-exclusive nova 16z, positioning it as the more widely available mid-tier option below the standard nova 16, nova 16 Pro, and nova 16 Ultra models. According to Digital Chat Station, both the SE and the 16z share the Kirin 8020 chipset. The chip already ships in the nova 16z and previously debuted on the nova 14 Ultra, so this isn't new silicon; it's just a wider rollout across the family.
The nova 16 SE carries a flat LTPS OLED panel with 1.5K resolution, a step up from the FHD+ panel on the 16z. Camera-wise, expect a 50 MP main sensor paired with Huawei's Red Maple multispectral color sensor for tuning skin tones and white balance—the same imaging stack used across the rest of the nova 16 series. Battery capacity is tipped at 8,500 mAh, well above the 6,000 mAh cell in the 16z and the largest in the lineup so far.
Expected price and availability
Rumored pricing sits between 2,000 and 3,000 yuan (roughly $280 to $420), making the phone competitive in that segment based on battery capacity alone. Huawei hasn't confirmed a launch window yet, though it could debut at the company's next event, scheduled for August 5 at 2:30 p.m. GMT+8.
