Oppo Find X9 Ultra fails to top DxOMark camera charts despite two 200 MP Hasselblad cameras

Thanks to its large sensors and Hasselblad tuning, the camera system scores highly in the DxOMark analysis, particularly for color reproduction in good lighting, minimal image noise, and its impressive portrait mode. However, the camera is not entirely free of issues. Without a variable aperture, the main camera cannot always render background objects in focus, even when they are part of the scene – for example, in a group portrait. Worse still, Oppo attempts to restore the lost details using AI, which can result in an unnatural look.

Noise reduction doesn’t work properly when there are light sources in the background, so image noise is clearly visible in such scenes. In low light, photos often appear too warm, and the white balance is quickly overwhelmed by artificial light sources. And while the telephoto cameras at 70 mm and 230 mm capture detailed photos, the image quality at 135 mm lags significantly behind the competition, even though the Vivo X300 Ultra also has to rely on the digital zoom of an 85 mm telephoto camera in this case.
