Oppo Find X9 Ultra video review: top smartphone takes on Vivo X300 Ultra

Anyone willing to pay the high price for the Find X9 Ultra (prices currently start at around $1,650) gets a complete camera package without any major weaknesses. Interested buyers can get the Oppo flagship somewhat cheaper as an import. Our review sample from Trading Shenzhen starts at less than $1,200.

The camera setup developed in collaboration with Hasselblad is a real highlight in the smartphone segment and, together with the Vivo X300 Ultra, stands almost alone in terms of quality. But the Find X9 Ultra doesn't just excel in photos; you can find all the sample shots from the Oppo phone our full review. Those who like to record videos with their smartphone will also get their money's worth with the Oppo phone.
The flagship phone records videos in UHD quality across all focal lengths and even in Dolby Vision at 120 frames per second. The two 200 MP sensors for wide-angle and telephoto also support video recording in 8K30.
For video professionals, the Find X9 Ultra also offers a new color profile called O-Log2. This log format is said to offer a particularly high dynamic range and a wide color space for more detail. Color grading can also be adjusted during recording using 3D LUTs.
Android smartphone with excellent videos up to 8K resolution and OIS
We take a look at the image quality and stabilization of the Find X9 Ultra using the 4K30 option with Dolby Vision. Video recordings in daylight are very detailed with the Oppo flagship. In our test video, we used the zoom levels 0.6x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 6x and 10x. Even at 10x magnification, the quality is absolutely suitable for everyday use, making the Find X9 Ultra extremely flexible. In addition to strong video quality at high zoom levels, an option "Sound Focus" can also be activated for concerts, for example, specifically capturing the sound of a subject while blocking out ambient noise.
The image stabilization of the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is effective, and focusing works reliably even with fast movements. We have also included footage from the Vivo X300 Ultra's main camera for comparison.
