Huawei launches FreeClip 2 S with a redesigned case that can store earbuds and jewelry

Following the launch of the Huawei FreeClip 2 open-ear earbuds in 2025, Huawei released a special edition in China called the FreeClip 2 Collector's Edition. Now, it has brought the earbuds to Europe as the FreeClip 2 S. This version of the earbuds isn't just a color refresh, but also sports a new design.

The FreeClip 2 S have ditched the AirPods-style case of the FreeClip 2 for a redesigned case that is almost spherical in shape and larger, too. According to Huawei, the new case has 20% more storage space which can be used to store small jewelry or accessories alongside the earbuds.

The earbuds have also been redesigned as the C-bridge is stated to be 25% softer. Huawei has also ditched the grooves on the C-bridge for a uniform smooth finish. Like the case, the earbuds have a metallic finish and are available in Metallic Blue and Silver colors.

With respect to features, nothing has changed. The Huawei FreeClip 2 S earbuds have 10.8mm dual-diaphragm drivers, adaptive volume, adaptive voice enhancement, and 3-mic call noise cancellation. Rated IP57 for dust and water resistance, the earbuds are not marked left and right, as they have auto left-right recognition and automatically switch to the right channel. They also have head motion controls, in addition to support for taps and touch gestures.

The Huawei FreeClip 2 S earbuds have Bluetooth 6.0, Bluetooth Multipoint, a battery life of 9 hours (38 hours with the case), and support for fast charging. There is support for SBC, AAC, and L2HC but no LDAC, LHDC, and Apt-X support.

The Huawei FreClip 2 S is available to buy starting today for €229. However, from now until August 21, 2026, buyers will be able to purchase it for €199, or pay €229 for a bundle that includes the earbuds and a piece of jewelry from the luxury French costume jewelry brand, Les Néréides.
