Huawei MatePad Air (2026) launches with 144 Hz OLED display in ultra-thin body

Together with the Pura 90s Pro (Max), Huawei also announced the MatePad Air (2026) today. Compared to last year’s model, the design appears only slightly different at first glance, but there are actually significant differences. Most notably, with a thickness of 5.3 millimeters and a weight of 509 grams, the tablet is 0.6 millimeters thinner and 46 grams lighter than its predecessor.
The 12-inch display now uses an OLED panel instead of an IPS panel. The screen has a resolution of 2,800 x 1,840 pixels, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and a peak HDR brightness of 1,200 nits, it can fully reproduce the DCI-P3 color gamut. Huawei’s PaperMatte finish is designed to significantly reduce reflections while also providing a more natural writing experience with the separately available Huawei M-Pencil Pro.
To use the tablet as a laptop replacement, Huawei also offers a keyboard case, though it does not include a touchpad. The tablet features six speakers and, combined with its 10,100 mAh battery, is said to be ideal for multimedia applications. The battery is said to provide up to 16 hours of video playback or 10 hours of HDR video streaming. Wi-Fi 7, a 12-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel main camera round out the features.

Although the Huawei MatePad Air (2026) is already listed on the global Huawei website, Huawei has not yet confirmed any details regarding price or availability.
