Huawei is launching offering a new tablet. The MatePad Air 12 (2025) can be used with a stylus and is quite thin, at least according to the manufacturer's specifications. Several model variants are available.

The refreshed 2025 Huawei MatePad Air 12 is now available for pre-order directly at Huawei, but not in the US and Europe thus far. The 12-inch tablet costs the equivalent of $420 in China, which supposedly is a discounted launch offer. The slate is available in four different colors and comes with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal mass storage. The MatePad Air 12 is also offered in a Soft Light Edition, which features a specially treated display and apparently offers a better visual experience.
More specifically, it features a 12-inch LCD with a resolution of 2800 x 1840 pixels, a refresh rate of 144Hz and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The tablet weighs about 19.6 oz and sports with a 10,100 mAh battery. Its thin design is also advertised, as the device is only about 0.23 inches thick, which probably is the measurement for the thinnest part. Anyhow, the battery can be charged via USB Type-C with up to 66 watts, and the USB port also supports data transfer according to the USB 3.1 Gen 1 standard.
Optional accessories include a keyboard and a stylus, which turn the tablet into a good productivity device for sketches and drawings and a potential laptop replacement. As usual, Huawei also heavily promotes several AI features. Unfortunately, the company has not confirmed which mobile SoC powers the new MatePaid Air 2025, but it has revealed that it has a total of six speakers and two built-in microphones.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
