The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 (2025) has gotten a technical upgrade, particularly in terms of camera and performance, but remains priced at €999, including a keyboard cover. The chassis is still just 5.5mm thin and comparatively light at 508g. The workmanship is high-quality and the features include modern interfaces such as USB 3.2, Wi-Fi 7 and NearLink, but no 6 GHz WLAN. Excellent sound quality is provided by the quad speaker. The included Glide Keyboard with its comfortable typing feel and stylus compartment is impressive, as is the precise trackpad. Security features such as a fingerprint sensor and facial recognition are on board.
The 12.2-inch tandem OLED display impresses with a brightness of over 2,200 cd/m², an anti-reflective PaperMatte surface and eye-friendly PWM dimming, although the minimum brightness could be higher. The camera setup has been significantly improved with a 50 MP main camera, while the ultra-wide-angle and digital zoom offer only mediocre quality. The front camera is sufficient for video calls, but exhibits color casts. Video recording is possible in Ultra HD at 30 fps.
The software still doesn't offer Google services, but Huawei now promises six years of updates. Thanks to the optional stylus with high pressure sensitivity, the keyboard cover and the bright display, the tablet is suitable for both productivity and entertainment. The battery life is over 12 hours and overall performance is solid, although the graphics are somewhat weaker than other tablets in the same category.
