Wacom has unveiled a portable all-in-one drawing tablet for artists, the $449.95 MovinkPad (DTHA116CL0Z) (available here on Amazon).
The Android tablet couples a 2,200 x 1,440 pixels IPS display capable of 10-finger multi-touch input. The 90 Hz screen covers 99% of the sRGB color space with a 1200:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness. For eye comfort, it has anti-glare and anti-fingerprint surface coatings.
The MovinkPad comes with a Wacom Pro Pen 3 with 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, 5,080 lines per inch resolution, and 60-degree pen tilt angle range. It uses the company's electromagnetic resonance technology, eliminating the need for charging or batteries. A variety of optional nibs, which change the feel of the pen on the screen, and other Wacom-compatible pens can be purchased.
The tablet uses a Mediatek Helio G99 SoC running Android 14 with 8 GB of memory, 128 GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.2, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The Wacom UX interface provides quick access to Wacom Canvas, a virtual sketchbook, to help artists capture spur-of-the-moment creative ideas. A 2-year license for Clip Studio Paint Debut is also included. Artists also have access to all their art through Wacom Shelf, which displays artwork stored on the device in bmp, clip, heic, jpeg, png, tiff, and webp format.
The Wacom tablet measures 266 x 182 x 7 mm (10.5 x 7.2 x 0.3 in.) and weighs 588 g (1.3 lbs.). It comes with a 5 MP front camera, a 4.7 MP rear camera, dual microphones, stereo speakers, an e-compass, a G-sensor, and an ambient light sensor. The portable device is powered by a 7,700 mAh battery that can be recharged using a USB-C power source.
Artists looking for a tablet that can run all their professional software for work, such as the full version of Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and Corel Painter, might consider a Microsoft Surface Pro with an Intel CPU that runs Windows 11 (like this model on Amazon).
