The Xencelabs Pen Display 16 Lite is a new drawing tablet with a 16-inch display offering an impressive resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels – a standout feature in this price bracket. For comparison, the current Wacom Cintiq 16 (approx. $700 on Amazon) only comes with a QHD screen.
According to official specs, the display delivers pretty high colour accuracy, covering up to 98% of both the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB gamuts. However, its peak brightness is limited to 170 nits, which isn’t sufficient for use in bright daylight. The refresh rate is similarly modest at 60 Hz. The anti-glare surface has a slightly rough texture to provide a natural writing and drawing feel. Xencelabs also includes two pens with different grip thicknesses.
Measuring 12 mm (0.05 in) thick and weighing 1.2 kg (2.64 lb), the drawing tablet lacks an internal battery and thus requires a USB-C connection to a computer. The display is passively cooled using a metal backplate, allowing the Pen Display 16 Lite to operate silently without any fans. Besides supporting Windows, macOS and Linux, it is also compatible with Snapdragon-based laptops.
