Alongside the Honor X70, the company has launched the Pad GT 2 Pro. Just as the recent leak has suggested, this new gaming tablet features the last-gen flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. While the 8 Elite is more capable in terms of handling AAA titles, last year's top-end Qualcomm chip is still a solid option for games and emulation.
Honor paired the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with what the company calls the "Phantom Engine." This combination is said to allow the new gaming tablet to offer a native 165 frame rate in supported games. The company also highlights that the large "Ice Cooling System" inside will allow the device to deliver stable performance under heavy loads.
Another key highlight of the Honor Pad GT 2 Pro is the large 10,100 mAh battery. While it's not a major upgrade over the predecessor, such a large capacity should make the tablet offer decent runtimes while gaming (25,000 mAh Ugreen 200 W power bank curr. $99.99 on Amazon).
As for the front, Honor didn't mention the exact size of the screen at the launch event, but it confirmed that the display is a 165 Hz panel with "3K" resolution. Like the predecessor, the new gaming tablet has a slim and lightweight build, measuring 5.8 mm thick and weighing 580 grams. Among the other highlights are a eight-speaker spatial audio setup, support for IMAX Enhanced, and compatibility with stylus and keyboard.
Regarding the price, the base configuration of the Honor Pad GT 2 Pro with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs CNY 2,499 in China, around $349. The top-end config with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, on the other hand, goes for CNY 3,399, about $474.
