Winlator developer brunodev85 has returned with a new update for the Windows game emulator for Android. The latest version of the emulation tool, v10.1, comes with brand-new features and introduces improvements in terms of performance and compatibility.
One of the notable changes is the conversion of some parts of the app to native code. This should offer better gaming performance, and combined with the VortK graphics driver changes, the Android Windows game emulator is expected to offer a better emulation experience.
Some of the key components of the emulator have also been changed on Winlator 10.1. For example, the Box64 has been updated to version 0.3.6, and there's a "performance" preset available for optimal performance.
As for new features, Winlator 10.1 now supports external media controllers. There's a dedicated option for MIDI input/output functionality, and users can set up a virtual CD-ROM drive in the emulator. Another addition is the active Windows side menu, which will let users easily switch between multiple open windows.
The input and control department has also seen some changes. One notable change is the support for new control types and on-screen touch control profiles. The latter will enable users to import an optimized on-screen profile for certain games. Of course, a physical controller would still offer a much better gaming experience (GameSir G8 Plus curr. $79.99 on Amazon).
Among the other highlights of Winlator 10.1 are fixes for Steam Client startup and improvements in terms of compatibility. You can learn more about the new version of the Windows games emulator for Android from the complete changelog.
