Analysts report that Meta is developing a new AI-powered feature for WhatsApp, specifically designed for users with many chats. Although it is not available yet, this could change soon.

WhatsApp is set to become even more convenient, according to recent insights from the WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo. The messaging service is developing a new feature called Quick Recap that uses artificial intelligence to summarize multiple chats at once. The goal is to help frequent users catch up on unread messages more efficiently.

According to WABetaInfo, which regularly analyzes beta versions, the feature is currently in development in the Android beta version 2.25.21.12. In the future, users will be able to select up to five chats from the chat tab. By tapping a new Quick Recap icon, they will receive an AI-generated summary of unread messages. The feature is expected to be especially useful for people with a high volume of group or individual chats, such as professionals or community managers.

One key aspect of the new feature is that it will not compromise end-to-end encryption. According to SmartDroid.de, WhatsApp uses what is known as private processing technology. This means the AI analysis takes place in a secure, isolated environment, ensuring that neither WhatsApp nor Meta can access the content or results. Notably, chats with Advanced Chat Privacy are excluded from the feature by design, providing extra protection for especially sensitive conversations.

Not yet available – but possibly coming soon

Quick Recap is not yet available to users, neither in the regular app nor in beta versions. Although there is no official release date, a phased rollout is expected. The feature will likely launch first for a limited group of beta testers, then gradually expand to more beta users, before eventually being added to the stable version.
