Earlier this month, 8BitDo announced that some of its controllers have been fully optimized to be compatible with Steam and the Steam Deck; and by extension, devices running SteamOS. The list of supported controllers have now grown by one with the addition of the newly launched 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Controller.
The new controller joins the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless, 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Controller, and the 8BitDo SN30 Pro Bluetooth controller. According to 8BitDo, all of the controller's inputs have been fully optimized to work with Steam. The controller works with Steam in both Bluetooth and wired mode. However, the latter requires connecting via a USB cable which is included in the box.
Other Steam-supported features include 6-axis gyro adjustment, button mapping, vibration, and cross-platform profile support. 8BitDo advises users to update both the controller and Steam client to the latest version for the best performance.
The 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth controller is currently available for pre-order directly from 8BitDo or on Amazon for $69.99, and will be released on August 12. The Pro 3 Bluetooth controller is also compatible with Android, Apple devices, Nintendo Switch (1 & 2), and Windows. It comes with TMR joystics, swappable magnetic ABXY buttons, additional R4 and L4 buttons, customizable back buttons, and a charging dock.
