8BitDo: Popular retro controller company releases Xbox-themed SN30 Pro controller and gaming clip for Microsoft Project xCloud
8BitDo has unveiled its latest controller, the not so snappily called SN30 Pro for Xbox Cloud Gaming on Android. As its name suggests, 8BitDo has taken the design of the SN30 Pro and modified it for Microsoft's upcoming cloud-based gaming platform. Currently codenamed Project xCloud, 8BitDo's new controller is the first sign that Microsoft may be on the verge on switching on its cloud-based gaming platform.
The SN30 Pro for Android features all the buttons of the regular SN30 Pro plus an Xbox button. The other buttons are also Xbox-themed and are customisable through the 8BitDo Ultimate Software Suite. According to the manufacturer, the controller will offer up to 16 hours playtime between charges and will take between 1-2 hours to recharge via its USB Type-C port. The controller weighs 111 g and measures 144 x 63.4 x 33 m, for reference.
The controller is only compatible with Android, unlike the existing SN30 Pro. 8BitDo is currently taking preorders on Amazon for US$44.99, from which it will ship on September 21, 2020. The SN30 Pro for Android includes a Mobile Gaming Clip for Xbox controllers in the box too, which will be available separately for US$14.99.
