Surface Duo: Leaked marketing renders confirm the outdated looks of Microsoft's upcoming foldable
Microsoft has been teasing the Surface Duo a lot of late, but it is still yet to reveal a specific release date for the device that it unveiled last year. Nonetheless, Evan Blass has published five marketing renders of the Surface Duo and that AT&T will sell it in the US. It is unclear whether the Surface Duo will be exclusive to the carrier in the US, which would be a throwback. However, its inclusion in the leak suggests that AT&T may be the only place to purchase the Surface Duo in the US, at launch anyway.
The Surface Duo has recently passed through the Bluetooth SIG and FCC, indicating that Microsoft should be close to releasing the device. There had been rumours that Microsoft planned to release the Duo this summer, which now seems unlikely. Strangely, the renders contain the date Monday, June 18 which correlates to either 2018 or 2029. Additionally, the renders contained two times, "10:55" and "6:18".
While these times and the date are placeholders, the renders offer a good look at most of the Surface Duo. Undoubtedly, the Surface Duo will have much thicker bezels than its contemporaries. In fact, the bezels may give the ones on the Lumia 950 series a run for their money, despite their release almost five years ago. The Surface Duo is also believed to be arriving with a Snapdragon 855 SoC to add to the feeling of its outdatedness.
