Microsoft VP Frank X recently posted a picture of a Surface Duo in his kitchen. The foldable in question displays a recipe for baking breadsticks. An ironic note in the recipe tells readers to “cut in half.”
It’s interesting to see a foldable device in use in such a banal environment: advertisements for foldable like the Samsung Galaxy Fold tend to focus on lifestyle and technology aspects, but Frank X is just baking breadsticks here. Reading between the lines, the picture could be a subtle jab at other foldable devices on the market, such as the Huawei Mate X and the Galaxy Fold, both of which have been marred by reports of poor build quality and reliability issues.
The Surface Duo appears capable of handling the kitchen with ease. However, other key specs raise questions about whether or not this is the foldable to look forward to this year: the Surface Duo is set to feature an agreeing Snapdragon 855 SoC, a low 1800x1350 display resolution, and a paltry 3460 mAh battery. While it might possibly take some spilled dough, we wonder how long a Snapdragon 855 will last on that limited battery.
