8BitDo has just released a wireless controller adapter for the Switch and Windows PCs. The GBros. Wireless Adapter for Switch allows gamers to connect Gamecube controllers, NES and SNES Classic controllers, and the Wii Classic controller to either the Nintendo Switch or a Windows device (running compatible software) wirelessly.

UPDATE: Preorders have sold out. Be sure to check the Amazon page regularly to see if the adapter is back in stock.

Excited for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but cringing at the thought of playing it with the Switch's tiny, uncomfortable controllers? 8BitDo has your back with a new adapter that can wirelessly connect a Gamecube controller (or a few others) to your Nintendo Switch or Windows PC.

The GBros. Wireless Adapter for Switch (that's a mouthful) is a compact plug-and-play solution for connecting certain controllers to both the Switch or a Windows PC. The adapter is compatible with Gamecube controllers, the Wii Classic controllers, the NES Classic controllers, and the SNES Classic controller, allowing gamers their choice of Nintendo-made input. The adapter also has a Switch HOME button, screenshot button, and a turbo switch (Windows only). The whole package comes in a compact case (100 mm x 35 mm x 29 mm, 38 grams) that is styled after the original purple Gamecube controller.

8BitDo is touting the adapter as "lag-free," which may be a bit of a stretch. While lag will likely be minimal due to the use of Bluetooth 4.0, it's a wireless adapter; there will inevitably be some lag. That's the nature of wireless connections. Even so, the lag may be so small that it won't interfere with gameplay, but that remains to be seen. 8BitDo says the adapter will work up to distances of 6-10 meters and should last for about 30 hours on a single AA battery.

As a nice bonus, the adapter can also be used to connect the aforementioned controllers to Windows devices. As long as the game or software is compatible with X-input, the adapter will work.

The 8BitDo GBros. Wireless Adapter is available for preorder at Amazon. The adapter is expected to start shipping December 7th.
