8BitDo has a handful of controllers that are licensed to work with Xbox consoles. However, all of these controllers support only wired connection to a compatible Xbox console with the exception of the 8BitDo Lite SE, Arcade Controller for Xbox, and the Arcade Stick for Xbox which support 2.4GHz connection via an included adapter.
Now, 8BitDo has announced that it plans to launch its first wireless controller for the Xbox. The announcement comes via 8BitDo's X account, and it includes a teaser video as well as a launch date for the new gaming accessory. The upcoming controller should serve as an alternative to the official Xbox Wireless Controller and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series.
The teaser video does well by not revealing a lot of details, but there are just enough to paint a picture. For starters, the controller seems to have a design akin to the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 (available on Amazon for $59.99) or the 8BitDo Pro 3 considering it has a charging dock. Unsurprisingly, it also has an Xbox button with a ring light.
The video also shows that the controller will connect to a supported Xbox console via a 2.4GHz adapter and might even be able to wake up the Xbox. While not stated, there's also a possibility the controller may support other devices as it is a common feature of 8BitDo controllers.
8BitDo has scheduled the launch of the controller for the 4th of August, although the release may be at a later date.
