RedMagic introduced the Astra in early July 2025, and at the core, it's the global variant of the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, which launched in China earlier in June. This new pad rivals the Legion Y700 Gen 4 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and a compact form factor, and now, it's available to purchase.
Besides the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the RedMagic Astra comes with a compact 9.06-inch OLED screen. This is a big plus for RedMagic's gaming tablet, as the Lenovo Legion Y700 Gen 4 has an IPS display. The OLED panel features a 165 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1504 x 2400 pixels.
Another factor where the RedMagic gaming tablet has an edge is in terms of cooling. The company paired the Snapdragon 8 Elite with an active cooler. According to the brand, this fan, combined with the "13-layer ICE-X" cooling system, will allow the pad to offer stable performance under heavy loads.
As for the battery, the RedMagic Astra features an 8,200 mAh battery with support for bypass charging and 80 W fast charging (200 W Ugreen Nexode 4-port charger curr. $79.99 on Amazon). The company claims that it can offer up to 33 hours of movie playback and 5.56 hours of AAA gaming.
Among the other highlights of this new RedMagic gaming tablet is a pre-installed PC game emulator, dual X-axis linear motors for vibration, and a speaker system with DTS:X Ultra. The base mode with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs $549, while the top-end configuration with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage costs $699.
