While more affordable RTX 5070 laptops start at just under €1,300, Gigabyte is currently asking around €2,300 for the Aorus Elite 16, which is anything but cheap. However, buyers are also getting above-average quality in return for the high asking price.
In our recently published in-depth review of the Aorus Elite 16, the 16-inch gaming laptop showed almost no weaknesses. Besides the poor opening angle of the display and driver issues (Nvidia's Blackwell GPUs currently struggle with black screens and other errors on many laptops), the loud fans in high-performance modes are a caveat. Without a headset, gaming sessions might not be enjoyable.
Fortunately, the list of pros is much longer. In our test, we particularly enjoyed the modern port selection including Thunderbolt 5, the large touchpad, the large 99Wh battery and the high CPU performance of the Core Ultra 9 275HX. Upgrade enthusiasts will also be happy to find two RAM and M.2 SSD slots on the Gigabyte Aorus Elite 16.
As mentioned, the sticking point for many potential buyers is likely the price. After all, gaming notebooks with 8GB of VRAM have been available for significantly less money for years. Accordingly, bargain hunters and price-conscious gamers might be better off with a cheaper RTX 5070 laptop. Passionate gamers who need more video memory should probably go for an RTX 5070 Ti laptop with 12GB VRAM.
