Tactical turn-based games often rely on positioning, class synergies, and smart use of resources. Dice Gambit is a new game that just launched in the aforementioned genre, where every move comes down to the roll of the dice - quite literally. Released on August 14, 2025, the game has managed to earn a "Very Positive" rating from 87% of 175 early reviews on Steam (as of writing).
The game is set in the city of Neo-Talis, where players lead a customizable - and debt-ridden - noble family of inquisitors tasked with cleansing the city of chromatic monsters. It’s a mix of strategy RPG with some humor - yes, you might find yourself delivering ice cream amid all the chaos.
Combat is grid-based and entirely dice-driven: roll the dice to move, attack, or trigger special abilities. Players can reroll certain dice to tilt luck in their favor, and mixing dice unlocks powerful combos. Over 200 unique abilities and passives are discoverable, which gives players freedom to craft unusual and explosive builds. On top of that, players get to attend the Academy to pick up classes and mix them freely, marry into advantageous noble families, and groom heirs who will inherit traits, both cosmetic and combat-oriented.
The game is developed by Chromatic Ink and published by Spelkollektivet (with support from WhisperGames and Curve Games). Dice Gambit includes Steam features like achievements, cloud saves, adjustable difficulty, and support for multiple languages including English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. You can also pick up the game’s original soundtrack - 40 tracks including Portuguese Fado, hip-hop, EDM, funk, and trap - from Steam as DLC.
As far as feedback goes, the game was warmly received. Steam reviews are in favor of the visuals, voice work, and style. Critique included style choices like faded fonts in intros (which can be hard to read) - but the developers did promise improvements like subtitles.
Right now, Dice Gambit is purchasable for $21.24 on Steam, which includes a 15% launch discount. Post that, the game will revert to its sale price on August 28.
