A recent leak from well-known Resident Evil leaker and insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, has revealed new information about Resident Evil Requiem on X. According to the insider, Resident Evil Requiem will feature three playable characters, instead of the single protagonist revealed so far.
According to the insider’s statement on X, players will get to play as Grace Ashcroft, Leon S. Kennedy as the main protagonists, while Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, will enjoy “a little” bit of screen time as a playable character, potentially through flashback sequences, given the fact that she is long-deceased during the game’s events.
This information comes amid a flurry of leaks ahead of Resident Evil Requiem’s Gamescom Opening Night Live gameplay reveal, where Capcom is expected to present more information about the game’s story and gameplay elements.
Dusk Golem notes that Leon will play a major role alongside Grace in the upcoming Resident Evil title. The game will be a “send-off” for Leon and his last major appearance in a Resident Evil game.
Dusk Golem reiterated,
“Leon and Grace are the main protagonists of Resident Evil Requiem, yes. I am repeating myself a bit there, but it will end up being the case. Both are playing big roles, but I think when all is said and done, this in many ways will come off more as Leon’s send-off game.”
Further information suggests that Resident Evil Requiem is an ambitious project for Capcom, with the largest budget to date in the franchise’s history. The game is reported to feature combat reminiscent of The Last of Us, along with driveable vehicles in larger-scale levels.
The game’s story is set 30 years after the events of the Raccoon City incident, serving as a “requiem” for the victims of the outbreak, including Alyssa Ashcroft’s murder eight years before the incident.
While Dusk Golem is known for having a reputable track record concerning insider leaks, enthusiasts should still process this information with a grain of salt, given
Resident Evil Requiem was announced at the Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles in June 2025, complete with a trailer drop. The game is slated to release on February 27, 2026, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.
