Switch 2 players will be treated to all three of the newer Resident Evil games in February next year, including the latest instalment, Requiem. These will be native ports of the games, unlike the cloud versions that are already available.

The Nintendo Direct event just ended (around 10:30 am ET, September 12), and it brought a lot of announcements, including some for games that fans had been waiting for years, and some that were more recently suspected. Among the latter were the newer Resident Evil games, and Nintendo revealed that part 7,8, and 9, will be coming to the Switch 2 as natively running ports.

Towards the end of the showcase, Nintendo shared that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 8: Village, and Resident Evil Requiem, will be coming to the Switch 2. All three games will arrive on February 27 next year, which is the same release date for RE 9 on all other platforms. These will run natively on the handheld, unlike the cloud versions of RE 7 and RE 8 that have been available on the Nintendo Store.

The trailer for Resident Evil Requiem shows glimpses of first-person gameplay on the Switch 2, but it is known that the game will allow players to experience the story in both first and third person. The game was first showcased in June at Summer Game Fest and follows Grace Ashcroft, an investigative reporter and survivor of the 1998 Raccoon City Incident.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which was originally released in January 2017, was the first first-person Resident Evil game. Most of the gameplay took place inside the creepy Baker house where the protagonist Ethan’s wife Mia had gone missing. Resident Evil 8: Village, which released in 2021 and was playable in both first and third person, also followed Ethan as he searched for his daughter somewhere in a haunted village, controlled by the village priestess Mother Miranda and her lords.
