Most Resident Evil Requiem trailers have focused on the new protagonist, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. Still, fans suspect that Capcom has other key cast members safely locked away. Prolific leaker, Dusk Golem, believes that one fan favorite could emerge at the State of Play or Tokyo Game Show. The loudest rumblings center around the resilient Leon S. Kennedy, who has appeared in several Resident Evil games.
In new social media posts, Dusk Golem admits he doesn’t have a “direct connection” to Capcom’s PR team. Even so, he has heard chatter suggesting that the publisher will confirm Leon’s role very shortly. Gamers are now speculating that the Resident Evil Requiem character will appear at a rumored September Sony State of Play. Alternatively, the Tokyo Game Show that Capcom will attend could reintroduce Leon to fans.
The last mainline entry in the survival horror game series that Leon influenced was Resident Evil 6. With Resident Evil Requiem taking place after RE6, fans are wondering how much the character has aged. When asked about his appearance, Dusk Golem said Leon would look more “rugged” than in previous depictions.
Resident Evil Requiem balances the old with the new
Capcom has been grilled repeatedly about what popular personalities might resurface in the upcoming title. During a Gamescom 2025 IGN interview, producer Masato Kumazawa refused to offer any specifics. He emphasized the new Resident Evil characters and gameplay, with an eye toward the future. At the same time, Kumazawa values the sense of nostalgia many followers have with prior Resident Evil games.
Sadly, for gamers who enjoy remakes, the February 27, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem release date is merely a coincidence. Even though it aligns with the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Leon may not have a starring role. Nevertheless, viewers will tune in to the State of Play or Tokyo Game Show, hoping to see what part he has in the new title.
