Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem is rumored to receive a PlayStation 4 port. These rumors gained fresh traction following Capcom’s official confirmation of a Resident Evil Requiem Nintendo Switch 2 version during September 12’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
The showcase featured a brand-new trailer, giving us more insight into the eerie and dark atmosphere of Resident Evil Requiem as Grace Ashcroft explored the dilapidated Wrenwood Hotel. The trailer cuts to the end screen, proudly lists the Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch platform, alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC for a February 27, 2026, release.
Resident Evil Requiem’s Switch 2 announcement validates earlier leaks from insider Dusk Golem, who earlier claimed that the game, internally dubbed Resident Evil 9, would be coming to the Switch 2 and last-gen PS4 hardware.
However, Capcom has yet to confirm the game’s PlayStation 4 port. However, the Switch 2 trailer for Resident Evil Requiem has some fine print that references the PS4 logo beneath the listed platforms, even though the actual logo for the console was absent.
Dusk Golem noted the discovery in a recent post on X and stated it as potential evidence of the game’s arrival on last-gen hardware. Dusk Golem noted that the addition of the PS4 logo line in the fine print has more to do with licensing and should not be taken as official confirmation from Capcom of Resident Evil Requiem coming to PS4.
Despite this, Dusk Golem doubled down on his prior reports and remains confident that yes, Resident Evil Requiem is still coming to the PlayStation 4 and will be announced by Capcom at a later date.
He stated that Capcom’s current resources enable them to finance separate versions of Resident Evil Requiem without compromising on current-gen and PC ports, which are slated to feature advanced RE engine tech, including a new hair-rendering technique for Pragmata, improved lighting, and shadows.
However, Dusk Golem is unsure if the game’s PS4 port will launch simultaneously with the current-gen platforms, as the PS4 version might arrive at a later date. Speculation suggests that Capcom will either strip down the PS4 version, removing ray-traced shadows and lighting, or tone down the render resolution for the decade-old PlayStation console.
