Diehard fans of Konami’s survival horror games won’t need much convincing to try Silent Hill f. Still, as a spinoff, it takes some risks with a unique Japanese setting. Also, the enhanced combat may be souls-like, even though the developers disagree. With the Silent Hill f release date not until September 25th, a leaked review score indicates that the changes only benefit gameplay.
Andy Robinson of Video Games Chronicle found the surprising Reddit post. The DualShockers writer revealed her impressions on the Silent Hill subreddit. It’s unclear when the official embargo date will pass. However, most gamers expected to see Silent Hill F reviews when the 48-hour early access period arrived.
The reviewer explains that she already finished the game’s story after receiving an early copy. Most promisingly, she plans to award the game a 9.5/10 score, calling it “genuinely spectacular”.
How the new combat changes Silent Hill F
Some fans loathe the new combat system’s comparisons to souls-like games, including Elden Ring. These often drawn-out battles could overshadow traditional survival horror mechanics. Fortunately, the clashes, while challenging, may not detract from the suspenseful atmosphere.
According to the Silent Hill F review notes, the game’s Mature 17+ ESRB rating is warranted. Players will encounter gruesome scenes, though Konami warns players ahead of time. Even so, the added gore hasn’t come at the expense of an engaging narrative. The impressions confirm the importance of journal notes and documents. Buyers may also find added replay value with the New Game Plus mode, available after an initial playthrough.
The leaked review decides that Silent Hill f successfully puts a different spin on the series. Still, the impending flood of opinions on the PC and console title could have very different opinions.
