New leaks suggest that all six Resident Evil games that run on Capcom’s RE Engine are getting Switch 2 ports. This is according to verified leaker ‘Dusk Golem’, who is known for reporting news before official announcements for a multitude of industry players.
Dusk Golem posted on X that Resident Evil games are “coming to Switch 2 sooner or later.” This doesn’t only mean ports of the older Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, but also the upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem.
Last week, Dusk Golem joined in on a thread in Resetera and stated, “All the Resident Evil games are coming to Switch 2 as one might expect. I know for a fact that they are coming, but the next part is my own conjecture. I’m guessing they’re lining up several Switch 2 ports, and those PS5 versions of various RE games rated within the last year, as a part of their 30th anniversary.”
Later, Dusk Golem was asked on X if he could definitely confirm this, to which the leaker responded that their sources said the games are in development. He also stated that at least one of the games could be revealed at the heavily rumored Nintendo Direct Showcase slated for September 12, which Nintendo has now confirmed.
Dusk Golem stated, “Yee, they’ve been working on porting all the RE Engine Resident Evil games to Nintendo Switch 2 for a hot minute now. Requiem should be landing on Switch 2 as well.”
The leaker also stated that these would be proper ports running natively on the Switch 2’s hardware. Previously, Resident Evil 7, Village, and Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes were originally released on the original Switch, but they were cloud streaming versions.
Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine was first introduced in 2017 with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which has powered all of Capcom’s mainline Resident Evil titles ever since. Resident Evil Requiem is being developed using Capcom’s RE engine as well, with newer tech and features.
Capcom, on the other hand, has not officially confirmed these claims, but given Dusk Golem’s history of accurate leaks, including details regarding Resident Evil remakes and DLC, we may get a native lineup of Resident Evil ports for the Switch 2.
