The Epic Games Store is now finishing up with its first giveaway of the month after confusing fans by dropping one game at the last minute. Switched to this week, The Battle of Polytopia is one of three games that the storefront is giving away to account holders this week.
Typically sold for $14.99 on Windows and macOS, The Battle of Polytopia averages an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam from nearly 3,000 reviews. However, the game falls slightly short in critics' eyes with 71/100 and 72/100 averages on OpenCritic and Metacritic, respectively. Ultimately, the game is pulled up for its perceived blandness in some areas.
Meanwhile, Monument Valley 2 directly replaces last week's giveaway. Another puzzle game, Monument Valley 2 exceeds an 80/100 average across OpenCritic and Metacritic but only a Very Positive rating on Steam. While many reviews praise Monument Valley 2 for its fun level design, some critique it for not being different enough from its predecessor.
The third free game of this week is Ghostrunner 2 (curr. $38 on Amazon), which is also the most expensive at $39.99. Another sequel, Ghostrunner 2 scores highly across Metacritic, OpenCritic and Steam but has received criticism for falling down in the areas where it tries to expand upon Ghostrunner. This week's giveaways will be free to add to your Epic Games Store library between September 11 at 15:00 UTC and the same time on September 18.
