Amazfit has shared more information about upcoming features for the T-Rex 3. The news arrives in the wake of recent customer concerns surrounding the release of the T-Rex 3 Pro. Some users of the older model had flagged that they felt forced to upgrade to the new Pro smartwatch (curr. $399.99 at Amazon).
However, an Amazfit representative has confirmed on Reddit that the T-Rex 3 Pro is an addition to the lineup, not a replacement for the original T-Rex 3, which launched in September 2024. As such, the T-Rex 3 remains part of the brand's current range. They also note that the health sensor is identical on the two models, the BioTracker 6.0.
Amazfit has committed to releasing the BioCharge energy level monitoring feature on the T-Rex 3. As a reminder, the BioCharge feature arrived with the Helio Strap and was recently reintroduced on the Balance 2 smartwatch. It is also available on the T-Rex 3 Pro. Despite the positive news, there is still no ETA for the release, with the company indicating that further testing is needed before it can be pushed to customers. Regardless of the hardware similarities, Amazfit states that "it's just not that simple" to deliver this feature to T-Rex 3 users.
Another feature which could be added to the T-Rex 3 smartwatch is support for scuba diving. Again, this is said to need further testing, with the company saying that it is "likely" that this feature would arrive on the older wearable at some point. The final feature discussed by Amazfit is route planning. A new advanced route planning feature arrived with the T-Rex 3 Pro, allowing users to map their trail directly on the watch. It appears that this function will be pushed to the T-Rex 3 at some point, though again, an estimated release date has not been provided.
As a reminder, Amazfit typically issues updates for its smartwatches for two years after their release, meaning the T-Rex 3 Pro should continue to receive some new features and improvements until September 2026.
